I went to Park City, Utah this weekend and had so much fun! I’ve been before but this time was a little different. I didn’t ski! I usually already have my pass, rentals and gear for the weekend but since I got rid of everything while living in the city, I had nothing on me. Instead of dropping a few hundred dollars on a day of skiing I decided to try some new things in the mountains. If you want to avoid the slopes too, here’s what you can do.
I had never been snowshoeing before and I’ve been missing out! We rented shoes from a place in town and the rentals were only $18 for a full 24 hours. We just wore regular snow boots, a warm coat with layers and they provided the rest. There were some trails behind the rental place so we asked for their advice and got going. You can really snowshoe on any hiking trail that’s covered in snow. We also wanted a little bit of a challenge and turned ours into more of a hike but it’s totally up to you!
DISCOVERING THE TOWN
We were lucky this weekend in Park City because Sundance Film Festival was also happening. We took a night and got dinner in town and walked around. We tried Wasatch Brewery in Main Street which I highly recommend. It didn’t have the insane food prices that most ski towns have and you can grab a taste of any brew for only 50 cents. The festival was just starting but were able to spot a few stars! It’s amazing how bustling these ski towns can get at night. Not everyone is there for the slopes. You can always find great food and entertainment, too.
One of my favorite things to do in the mountains is….absolutely nothing. I see going to the mountains as a chance to completely unplug and have the beautiful scenery as my backdrop. I had to work remotely a few days while in Park City this year which wasn’t too bad either.
Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy skiing and think it’s a “must-do” in the mountains, but I’m so happy I discovered a few other things during my getaway.
What I’m wearing…
I knew it was Sundance Film Festival the weekend we were here so I wanted something that was a little out of the norm. I found this Metallic Puffer at H&M and knew it was perfect. Best part was that it’s on sale! I’ve been seeing so many sales on winter wear so get ready to stock up for next year. Most of the items that are going on sale you could still wear for a few more months. I also bought these Steve Madden Snow Boots before heading out to Park City. I’ve been trying to find the perfect, understated, and affordable pair of snow boots for a while and finally found them here.
