Florals, for spring? Ground breaking.
Name that movie! Okay, florals for spring isn’t a “new” trend but it certainly is a classic. Every year I get that warm, elated feeling when I start to see florals and bright colors popping up in department stores, boutiques and on my round of online shopping sites. It’s the little things. The (fingers crossed) last snow storm in New York has passed and I’m starting to see the light. Literally. I love how light it is outside when I leave work! There is also no snow on my 7-day iPhone forecast. Once again, the little things.
If you’re looking to brighten up your closet with some fun prints and stand out colors, here are a few tips & tricks I use when shopping the trend myself. Keep readying and you’ll find some of my internet faves in the floral department!
Shop for your body type // Don’t settle for the prettiest print or something on trend. The number one thing I focus on when looking for clothes in general is “does it fit my body”. The reality is, we can’t make anything look good if it doesn’t flatter our shape. For me, maxi dresses are a no-go because they are always too long then I end up just dragging them on the floor. The one I’m wearing here was the perfect length because it’s called a Mini Maxi Dress.

Find your perfect print // When looking for a floral print, ask yourself these questions. Can I wear this more than once a month? Will the print go with accessories I own? Will this color wear well after multiple washes? Since you’re buying a print that’s a little more stand out, these questions are really important! You don’t want this dress to be a “one and done” type of piece so buying for longevity is key.
You can find some of my favorite floral’s below. First, let’s start with this Wrap Mini Maxi from Nordstrom! It’s SO comfortable and a no brainer for this season. I paired it with some of my favorite new flats from J.Crew that come in this blush color. Nothing says springtime more than blush, right?! I wanted to bring out the darker colors in the print with my army green handbag but still keep it bright with these fun earrings from BaubleBar.
