While this post may be an introverts dream, it’s all we can focus on nowadays. I won’t go too much into my thoughts and opinions on the spreading of the recent pandemic, but I will share my ideas on how to best deal with the situation we have at hand. There have been studies and information coming out that the best thing we can do right now to slow the spread of the virus is by social distancing.
What is social distancing? Staying a healthy distance from other people or only leaving your home for essentials, in addition to avoiding public places. (ie. going to grocery stores, avoiding bars or restaurants)
Social distancing does not have to be a negative thing. I’m actually pretty excited to get to things I’ve been putting off or a while now. I always make the excuse “I don’t have enough time to do xyz“, and now we’ve been told we have nothing but time!
It is definitely a scary time for us all, no matter where you live. But we can turn this situation into positivity by controlling the spread of the virus and also making ourselves better in the process. Mostly, it’s a time for us all to take a step back and focus on things that don’t usually have our attention. Here are some ways I’m spending the next couple of weeks:
- Reach out to friends and family (I’m getting in a lot of FaceTime)
- Read those books you’ve been putting off
- Take a class on Skillshare
- Organize your closet/kitchen/etc.
- Start a puzzle
- Learn a TikTok dance…actually a good form of exercise and uplifts your mood right away!
- Take a virtual tour of these museums from around the world
- Revisit your 2020 goals or vision board. This year has been messy so far so let’s take some time to reset.
- Sleep! We can finally take time to sleep and not feel guilty.
- Use these online or mobile workouts to stay active – BBG, Obe, P.volve, Barre3, and Aaptiv. There are so many free YouTube videos out there too!
- Binge on every show you’ve ever wanted to binge on. Do we have a better excuse? I’m getting Disney+ for a few months. You can also try Amazon Prime, Netflix, or Hulu.
- Long walks with friends and family. The virus can’t be airborne, which means runs and walks outside are okay to do. Hopefully this springtime weather continues!
- Cook a new recipe – you can grab almost any ingredient at the grocery store that isn’t toilet paper, hand sanitizer, or canned foods. I’ve been pinning a few that have been on my list to make.
I hope this list helps you find ideas to keep yourself busy during the next couple of weeks. Just know, you’re not in this alone!
