If you know me, you know I’m a gym rat. Growing up an athlete (figure skating), working out and staying healthy just became part of my lifestyle. Now I’m more grateful than ever that continuing to stay active is second nature to me. I have a few things that are essential to keep around in order to stay active…and enjoy it too!
- Fun workout clothing! This one goes without saying ( I mean this is a fashion blog) but I really can’t stress it enough. If you know you have an outfit you feel comfortable in and excited to show your friends at the gym, you’re more likely to go! So jump out of your comfort zone and buy those leggings with a fun pattern, or splurge on a top from a high end athletic wear store that makes you feel and look great because it will only positively effect your health in the long run. I’m wearing a pair of Adidas (only $30!) leggings. I usually go for plain black but decided to embrace the trend of patterned workout attire.
- Water bottles! I’ve become accustomed to grabbing a water bottle whenever I leave my apartment because living in Colorado can make you even more dehydrated from the high altitude. Pair that with being active and you need to make sure you are consuming as much water as possible. That is why picking a drinkable ( and stylish 😉 ) water bottle is so important. My favorite water bottle company is S’well. Check out their website because there are SO many fun patterns and textures to choose from. I have a large wooden bottle and also this smaller all white one in the pics above.
- Get outside! I’m a little spoiled living in Denver where going for a 2 hour hike is a normal weekend activity for me and my friends, but there are so many other ways to enjoy the outdoors. You can find a nearby park, walk in the city, or go for a run in a part of town you’ve yet to explore.
- Grab a buddy! Working out is better with company. Have a few friends that will join you at the gym or at the park and make a date. It makes it harder to skip because you don’t want to leave them hanging.
- The desire to workout! No one is going to make you go to the gym but you’re also not going to benefit unless you really want to go. Once you get the ball rolling, motivation only becomes stronger. Just GO!
Here is a list of some of my favorite places to buy athletic gear:
Marshalls / T.J. Maxx (super cheap and brand names!)
top : old // sportsbra : underarmour // leggings : adidas // shoes : nike // water bottle : swell
