Happy new year, everyone! I hope your celebrations were spent in a warm place. I couldn’t even believe the weather this weekend. It was SO. COLD.
It’s that time of year again…resolution time. I’m hearing so any people say “I’m not a resolution person” or “I don’t like to make resolutions.” Since when did it fall out of style to create resolutions?? We all set goals, right? Isn’t it the same thing but we all do it on the same day?
There are so many types of goals and resolutions you can make at the beginning of the year. Most of them have an end point when you have “achieved” your goal. Instead of showing you my list of resolutions, I created a list of some I’ve set in the past that I’m still working on.
MAKE SMALL GOALS THROUGHOUT THE YEAR
Keeping resolutions for an entire year can be difficult. When people stop constantly asking about resolutions, we seem to forget about them. That’s why making small, attainable goals throughout the year is always helpful for me. Writing things down always helps me visualize my goals. So grab a fun notebook (like this one or this one) and get to writing!
EDUCATE MYSELF ON CURRENT EVENTS
I made this resolution a while ago when politics and current events became a larger part of everyone’s daily discussions. Though I believe everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and viewpoints on every subject, I like to stay educated on all different sides of the matter. I think this is very important in our generation.
KEEP MY FINANCES IN CHECK
Living in New York City is hard. Especially as a 20-something year old, keeping finances in check is extremely important. This will mean no impulse buys, keeping living expenses down, monitoring the meals I eat out, and extras for the blog. My blog creates a small revenue for me which is extremely helpful for fun money, but I need to make sure I’m not spending more than I make on things solely for the blog.
TRY SOMETHING NEW ONCE A MONTH
I mean, I live in the biggest city in the country. How hard can this be? I’ve been doing well at this the past year but I know I can do better. Things like going to a new museum, exploring a different part of the city, or trying a new workout class. We’ll never discover anything new that we love unless we try.
GROW MY NETWORK
I have always loved meeting new people whenever possible but have realized that when I get comfortable, I stop meeting new people. There are always new people to meet that have so much to offer. This might involve joining different groups in the city which is something I’ve been wanting to do for a while.
